My name is Cyrus Lee, and I am a third-year medical student at UERM. I am honored to be selected to represent the Philippines at the 2026 International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) General Assembly in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is one of the world’s oldest and largest student-run organizations. It is a network of more than 1.5 million medical students from 133 National Member Organizations in 123 countries around the globe. While this opportunity is a great privilege, it also comes with significant financial challenges. In hopes of making this opportunity possible, I reached out to the UERMMMC Alumni Foundation USA (AFUSA) last December 2025. I submitted all the required documents through the College of Medicine Dean’s Office, knowing that my registration was time-sensitive. I was sincerely hoping for a prompt response. To my great relief and gratitude, UERM AFUSA approved my request in a timely manner, allowing me to proceed with confidence. This experience affirmed what many of us already know—that UERM AFUSA truly cares for the UERM medical studentry. Beyond individual support, UERM AFUSA continues to fund scholarships, educational activities, and faculty development, believing that well-trained faculty ultimately benefit students the most.
