Hello fellow Alumni!
I’m Edna Solitario, a proud and humbled UERMMMMC graduate of Class’79. My passion is to give back to UERM, travel the world and to be a good Gardener.
My Boss Chairman of UERM AFUSA, Mel Aquino wanted me to introduce myself, he even made an example out of me. I tried to write about myself, I was so proud, I sent him my article. He yelled back, “Don’t be a bore Edna, try to be funny, otherwise, nobody will read your article. Your fishes can do better.”
I am a practicing Pediatrician in Southwest Oklahoma. I always wanted to give back to my beloved Alma Mater and to do something good for humanity. I was approached by Belen and Elmer Gilo in 2022, I think they like my inquisitive mind. I hesitated for years getting involved, but I realized that I do have something to contribute. I was a Trustee of 3 different Charitable Organizations for 20 years, I manage our successful Pediatric Practice for 15 years. I am a Gardener, I can talk to the little ones, they Iike my size, I understand and can talk to plants and fishes. Plants and fishes do not talk back. Hear that Mel!
I am a proud Class’79 graduate. My Class have given much to our beloved UERM, we are proud Sponsor of the Gonzalo Austria yearly Lecture, we have given money to both AFUSA and MAAA, supporting the SNPL program, helping needy students out of our Dean’s fund donated to Dean Uy in 2019. Myrna Ortega with Class’79 together with Susan Suntay and other alumni and entities helped a needy teenager from Palawan to have his massive mandibular tumor removed at UERM Hospital. Lydia Cohan donated, now there is Leonard and Lydia Cohan Auditorium. As a class we also helped the community during the COVID/19 Pandemic, we had the Community Pantry Project. We are donating to Charity Organizations like Hospicio de San Jose. We also travel together as a group. Many more is coming from Class’79 and UERMMMC AFUSA, Inc.
